How to retrieve ad extensions set via the Adwords UI

I am new to the AdWords API and am just playing around with a test account. I am trying to retrieve via the API some sitelink ad extensions that I created via the UI. How do I do this?  

I also added some extensions to my account via the FeedsService API, and I am unable to view them on the UI. Why is this?
