dd is not really a proper way to test RAM (since if it fails, chances are you had a hard time booting in the first place). There are a lot of memtest tools out there. I've had success with prime95 as well. Whatever you pick, give it some time. Not really sure what is considered 'enough' but more *is* better in such matters :)
