Re: Issues (bug?) with TrialService bulking - TRIAL_DURATIONS_MUST_NOT_OVERLAP

Hello Mikael,

This is quite strange. Can you please provide me the SOAP request/response from the call where this is failing when you try to make multiple trials at once. Please reply to me privately using the drop-down arrow at the top right of my post so you don't have to censor any information.

The example will greatly help our troubleshooting. Once you give me that info, I will follow up with our engineering team to figure out what's going on. I don't think that this is expected behavior.

Regards,
Mike, AdWords API Team

Hi Yin,

Yes, I'm aware of those constrains but I would argue that you can have multiple trials running at the same time; Just not on the same "base campaign".
It is not explicitly mentioned in the documentation that this limitation is per campaign but it supported by:
  1. It is possible setup multiple trials spanning the same dates in the UI (as long as they target different campaigns)
  2. Multiple overlapping trials can be setup by using multiple API calls (as done in the example code)
The 3 example operations above target 3 different campaigns and they work/get accepted if submitted individually (inefficient and prone to rate-limits) and it does not work if submitted together. If there were a constraint issue then submitting them individually shouldn't work, right?

I would prefer not doing multiple API calls for each trial but, if you say that the service is working as intended, that is what I will have to do.

Hi Michael,

Please see TrialService constraints. When creating a trial, [startDate, endDate] cannot overlap with any other running/scheduled trial. The default startDate and endDate for a trial is the startDate and endDate of the base campaign.

Thanks,
Yin, AdWords API Team.
